Pictures come from MegaForce Cast.
Summary:
When the evil Warstar aliens begin to surface earth and plan attacking it, Gosei asks his robotic aide Tensou to call upon "the most energetic and unstoppable group that exemplifies the enduring human spirit." Otherwise known as "teenagers". The teens he chooses are Troy Burrows, the new kid in town, Emma Goodall, a BMX biker and lover of nature, Jake Holling, a very athletic and fun-loving person, Gia Morgan, a very confident person who is also Jake's crush and Noah Carver, an aspiring scientist. Gosei explains to them that they have been chosen because of their skills and character. He then teleports them to the city where the foot soldiers, Loogies, attack them. They're lucky at first, but get knocked down pretty quickly. They use their Morphers to become the MegaForce Rangers. They activate their weapons using their Power Cards. A monster appears and the Rangers fight him off and destory him with their MegaForce Blaster. They get back to the cave and Gosei tells them they did well, but Noah says they were lucky this time, but Gosei tells them that luck had nothing to do with it. They were chosen and for good reason. Now they have a duty to protect the planet. They put their hands in a line and call out their catchphrase. "Earth's Defenders Never Surrender!"
Thoughts:
Well after those cruddy 2 years that Samurai gave us, this premiere episode made up for it. It's probably the best season premiere I'VE seen since "Operation Lightspeed" from Lightspeed Rescue. I liked the little throwbacks that were made to reference "Day Of The Dumpster" like the line about Emma and her hair. It also helps that these teenagers (much like Dino Thunder) is very realistic. They go to school, they study, they have a hang out called ERNIE'S Brain Freeze and their personalities shine out. The acting is well......OK, but keep in mind, this is the first episode. They need time to get into their roles. (Jake, Gia and Noah being the best of the bunch so far.) The morph is pretty cool to. It kind of mixes in all of the previous morphs into one. (If that makes any sense) I also like how Gosei was under the guidance of Zordon meaning he's kind of been a back up for him. And yes. I am pleased with Troy's dream and flashbacks about the war and the "Ranger Statues" in the cases. Not going to go into my thoughts about that since a lot of people already have. We will just have to wait and see.
There were some things I didn't like. For one thing, it was.......
Tensou.
I mean come on. Look at him! It's a WALLE rip-off! For that matter, it's all CGI. It's terrible. You might as well have just brought back Alpha. Another thing I didn't like was the "Mega Rangers, That Was A Mega Win!" line. I hope they don't copy Samurai. It just sounds wrong. I also hate the theme song. It's a re-hash of the Samurai theme and it's just lazy, but whatever.
Overall, Mega Mission was a great start to the season and gets a rating of
5/5
